King Of Hate
04:01
|
|||
put away your saints
and your mountain range of glass
god knows your heels could use the break
let us pray
for the new york stock exchange
and burn all the grass
oh darling madness
you wave this country like a flag
with gasoline on your breath
and bullets in your hands
stand for the king of hate
who says he'll lay down with the lambs
he's burning pastures
while sheep lay dreaming that
I am what I am...
count your bruises
like blessings you can't choose
says the noose
aloof as the last boy who seduced you
dangerous
as a homegrown apocalypse
with the kiss of genesis
oh darling madness
you wave this country like a flag
with gasoline on your breath
and bullets in your hands
dance for the king of hate
who says he'll lay down with the lambs
he's burning pastures
while sheep lay dreaming that
I am what I am...

The Royal You
03:44
|
|||
a swoosh of moon
she crawls in her cocoon
trips on a rope
provokes the thought of you
a plume of unlit rooms
of unmet dooms
the whispered crumbs
of promised altitudes
haunt her tomb
chrysalis tangled in an ancient mist
nostalgia her perfume
reminiscing on the glistening
of vignettes yet to debut
you
you had me hang up
my dirty laundry
and you tore down every piece
singing she loves me
as if my unmatched socks
were handfuls of forget-me-nots
picked by an astronaut
in a world I revealed
where flowers flood the fields
I never learned the butterfly
but I never learned to yield
cause just holding my breath
will only ever keep me
from breathing too deep
even in my sleep

My First Kiss
03:56
|
|||
you slithered out of your den
shedding lies and bits of dead skin
you and your friend cut through night like bats
trying to get back
into hell
I fell into your range
I was fifteen years old
and they'd blame me for wearing a striped tee shirt
told me you'd teach me how to drink
all these years later now I think
I know what you mean
Miami nights still chilled my spine
when you first put your lips on mine
your hands were too demanding
there was no misunderstanding
I said we've never met before
but we're not strangers anymore
when you showed yourself inside
I couldn't move
I couldn't hide
and honestly I tried to like it
the first man who kissed me
wasn't like it was on tv
in case my mother was unsure
if she had raised herself a whore
well I was made out of trouble
well yes the hubble telescope
could not have captured this sick joke
the cosmos of bruises
there's no amount of excuses
so I didn't dare to try
it was impossible to hide
so what you showed yourself outside
I thought I could take it in stride
the first man who kissed me
wasn't like it was on tv

Still Life
03:33
|
|||
all the people frozen on their phones
like a still life
but it's still life
frozen when the bomb explodes
like a still life
but it's still life
I wonder what Van Gogh would paint these days
GMO fruits on a plate?
is it still life?
I wonder what the iceberg would say
as millions of years just melted away
will there still be life?
city living ain't forgiving
blink an eye
you best start digging a hole
guess that's the goal
when you work yourself away
you're gonna hurry to your graves
we're all addicted to fantasy
is it still life?
it's still life
the television's gonna rot my teeth
I'm a still life
and still alive
but is it better to be a cynical saint?
instead of living sit around and paint
this still life

Moon In Cancer
02:48
|
|||
you looked over your shoulder
must have been the moon
in cancer taking over you
your laugh had vivid sparkle
just like your claws
all because of the moon
so crawl into your hole
no you're never cold now
cause your exoskeleton
keeps out oxygen
but doesn't keep you warm
found yourself a tropical outlook
please take shelter in my books
you held me like a soldier
blows up a balloon
I'm always coming on too soon
I'll remain just in orbit
pray to a satellite
you'll molt your armor tonight
so rearrange the stars
not to scar your skies dear
but it is much too late
for a new debate
to get caught in your barbs
do not let the sun go down in anger
there are wars near and far

In The Grass
06:37
|
|||
there I was burning the pages
under chandelier skies
gold leaf butterflies on my bedroom wall
a piano a window a basketball
gossamer dreams in the background
but everything I'd need
cigarettes and weed
and friends with cars
a soprano
always in love
so sit in the grass
sit in the grass
sit in the grass
you should be right there where I left you
in the grass
how can you start a fire
with nothing left to cook
using pages of your own book
your just burning
through mourning the child
a student to everyone else
where have the prophets gone?
you've hidden all your songs on the shelf
another blessing undressing itself
just sit in the grass
sit in the grass
sin the grass
you should be right there where I left you
in the grass
all my friends say that they've seen their own deaths
in this new york city mess
where the gravestones look like highrises
I have questioned many times of this earth
would I get a second chance at birth
if I can fit the yolk back in the shell
a smile wraps around my head
cracking up at the joke of it
we only have this one time a single dying sunrise
so sit in the grass...
